Stay connected to your customers and increase your customer base during the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic

More than ever, we need to come up with ways to be successful through digital marketing efforts, especially when your customers are in a full on lock down mode!

As the Internet becomes entwined with everything we do, the importance of digital marketing is becoming crystal clear. It’s become an integral part of what a business is to its customers.

There are definitely ways to market your business that will offer a better return on the investment of your time than others during this pandemic.

So where do you start when looking to increase your digital presence and customer base during the coronavirus pandemic?

1. Increase Social Media Presence

Your customers are already on social media, but these days, they are likely checking in much more frequently to get the latest updates on the virus and to see what their friends and family are up to!

Informative or entertaining video clips, articles or blogs, and photos for social media stories can all help boost your organic reach and in some cases, even monetize your digital marketing efforts. By creating engaging content, you’ll stay fresh in the minds of an audience actively seeking out new media.

There is no easier way to grow your customer base than providing value content and then having your customers promote your brand for you!

Here is an example post to share during these times. Simple, helpful, and shareable!

2. Offer offline deals

If you already have an e-commerce business, offer them an incentive to shop with you! Remind them that they can still shop online in the comfort of their home and get it shipped to them! Encourage online shopping with coupons, discounts, or maybe some free shipping!

If you operate a brick and mortar business like a restaurant or salon, offer online sales or gift certificates. Consider pick up options for restaurants, or offer a deal to buy a gift certificate now so they can treat themselves when the virus outbreak has slowed and self-quarantine is over! This can help maintain sales for you, while giving your customers something fun and exciting to look forward to.

Another option is to offer something free such as a free newsletter. When you offer a free newsletter, you are informing your potential customers that you are willing to provide free information from the start. If you provide good content, customers will know more about your business, and want to hear more from you!

3. Utilize Video Marketing

Increase customer engagement with video content. Just be sure to share an offer or one of the things that makes your business unique during your video to provide incentive for your customers to take action.

Create a video (or go live) to share an industry tip or activity that might help your customer base or help people become familiar with your company. Remember to share this on all social channels as social media is a great form of marketing right now! Explore more about our Video Production services to boost your strategy.

For example:

Teachers: Share tips about teaching from home
Accountants: Share how to make a home budget
Realtors: Share some simple “walk through ready” ideas
Car Dealerships: Share knowledge about various lights on dashboards, give a tech tutorial or even a features review of a new car model

4. Keep up and maintain excellent customer support and service

Retaining your current clientele is just as important as obtaining new business!

A customer who contacts customer support about their first order is just as important as a customer who contacts customer service about their fifth order.

A happy customer is likely to tell at least three friends about a positive experience and great customer service leads to increased sales.

Now is the time to increase your customer service capabilities and ensure your patrons can reach you no matter where they are. Social media is a good place to start, as you can offer the option to chat via Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and other instant messaging platforms. You can also offer video conferencing options through Zoom or FaceTime, so your customers can get that “face-to-face” feel without actually being there in-person.
